The breathtaking mountain vistas which make Stanley, Idaho
famous were running on all cylinders as Vintage Snowmobiles of Idaho
treated an exceptional group to it's 5th Annual Fall Vintage Show and Expo
September 12th, 2009. A very consistent flow of public
enjoyed a perfect alpine day as 29 sleds assembled by collectors from Montana,
Wyoming, and Idaho basked in the sunshine
of great September day!. Add in a handful of swappers, and enthusiastic
locals, and this year's Stanley Expo was easily the best ever!
A few treasures were found at this years show including a
rare, very clean, rare, '80 Arctic Cat Cross Country Racer along with a
super rare complete '70 Polaris 340 Playmate factory issued racer. The Cat is
still for sale!
The 2009 Stanley Expo also raised a record amount
of donations from it's annual vintage sled raffle! This years sled,
a '80 John Deere Trailfire brought in a total of $750!! And the winner was:::
Ray Bergstresser from Spokane! This is his
third raffle sled win a row! Last year Ray won the Stanley Scorpion, as well
as the WSVSA's Arctic Cat El' Tigre.
This guy's got some seriously aligned karma!!! Congratulations Ray!
This years Stanley Expo expanded it's entertainment by
adding a classic car display. Clubs from Challis and Ketchum Idaho brought
out some really cool cars which simply amplified the quality show and shine
atmosphere! In a very close vote, the '81 Ski Doo Sno Pro won
people's choice over Debbie Ginder's super cool '68 Larson Eagle! A true
testimony to how well the diversified field was interpreted
at this years show! Every participant received a free dash plaque and wall
plaque for their contributions to the show!
Vintage Snowmobiles of Idaho held their fall membership
meeting and voted to again support local ISSA club grooming programs with
a cash donation. At the ISSA Convention in Boise Oct 31, 2009, VSI will
present the Coeur D' Alene Snowmobile Club,
Cougar Mountain Snowmobile Club, Garden Valley Sno-Goers and Montpelier Bear
Lake Rim Riders each with a $250
donation to help their respective grooming programs.
Special Thanks go out to Thad, Robert and Tyler Lawrence,
Craig and Debbie Ginder, and Gary and Charline Cvecich for their
immeasurable help in making this years Stanley Expo a great success. Other
notable thanks go out to Kenny Jacobsen,
Tony and Brenda, Crnkovich, Danny Reasor, and Don Bernaiche for making the
long pull to participate! And last but not least,
thanks too Scott and Dee Williams along with their great friends who brought
out their classic cars making the day super special!!
